Hassidic Jews celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim in Jerusalem’s Mea Shearim neighborhood on March 21. Purim is a celebration of the Jews’ salvation from genocide in ancient Persia, as recounted in the Book of Esther.
- Basically Purim is sort of like Halloween, you’re supposed to go crazy and dress up in costume, drink and eat a lot, and be happy. But instead of going trick or treat, people bring gift boxes to you!
